Biltmore Estate Wedding Photographer – Jasmine and Nick

I loved this couple from the moment we met!  I’ve been looking forward to this wedding since the summer… I just adore a fall wedding.  Not to mention, Jasmine and Nick chose Biltmore Estate as the backdrop to their perfect day….  Little did we know, there was a movie being filmed right in front of the Estate.  The crew, however, were gracious enough to stop production for a few minutes so that I could get a picture of my couple with the home in the background.  AND…We had a chance to meet the lead actress, Lucy Liu, and my couple had their picture with her. Hilarious. If you’d like to see the image, make sure to friend me on facebook. :)

Jasmine and Nick wanted to meet before the wedding and go around the Estate for photographs… I love this moment below.  Jasmine is patiently waiting to see Nick for the first time.

I just loved the bouquet! Major props to The Purple Iris!

Fun outtake image of the movie “Marry Me”…. this is right before they stopped production for us so that we could take a few images of the couple in front of the Estate!

This wedding was very intimate. The Champagne Cellar made for the perfect reception.

The night ended with a wonderful speech by the groom’s brother… who also acted as our chauffeur during our couple session.

High Country wedding photographer – Ashleigh and Jason

What a fun party! Ashleigh and Jason were married last week on one of the most beautiful fall days I’ve experienced.  Taylorsville, NC is a small town with a lot of personality. I loved meeting everyone there and being a part of the day… My favorite part was our couple shoot after the wedding. We found an old barn and rolling hills, such a perfect setting! Enjoy this sneak peek! I realize I’m getting behind on blogging and I’m about to post a few more sessions and weddings…. stay tuned!

This flower girl is partly why I booked this couple. I’ve been her photographer since she was a newborn. :)

It wasn’t as easy to lift Ashleigh up in the dress. :)

Such a sweet moment!

Marc was in charge of the “Photo Booth” … you get the idea. (lol)

Hope the honeymoon was amazing! Love to you both!

North Carolina Wedding Photographer – Megan and Matt

I love this couple! Her sweet personality and his ability to keep it easy… they are perfect for one another. I love traveling to Raleigh, (especially with my hubby) and the entire day was awesome! Such amazing weather, I’m gonna be a bit sad when winter hits… I am enjoying these brief moments of no chill and no humidity. :) And of course, we always love shooting at the Capital City Club.

So, I was working with a Clemson crowd…I know how die-hard Clemson fans can be… as a young girl, my step-father would take all of us to every home game. I loved the atmosphere and (the tailgating)… it made for lasting memories. :) who knew that Clemson would play Carolina that weekend!???? The wedding went between well-wishes and “what’s the score?”

All jokes aside… Clemson lost that night, but, I think Megan and Matt were oblivious. Congrats to you both! Enjoy this sneak peek!

Mark and Michelle – Banner Elk, NC

GORGEOUS.  Everything about this day was just gorgeous. Fall made itself known last week with such beautiful weather… and Diamond Creek Golf Club made for the perfect venue.  Here are a few images from Mark and Michelle’s big day last week… enjoy.

Mark and Michelle chose to see eachother before the wedding for pictures… I love this below.

BEAUTIFUL FAMILY.

A little tickle time with mommy…

This fire was a welcome warmth… it got a bit chilly during the reception.

Best to Michelle and Mark! I loved being a part of your day.

The Workshop

So, I just finished up my first official “workshop” over the past weekend and I had a blast! What a fun and very full Saturday.  I wanted to post a few images from our shoot portion. Our models were awesome! Little Sarayah won everyone over and she was so easy to photograph. I managed to get a few of her and I’m posting them below… Special thanks to Chris Garner with TPS Photography (thanks for the help!) and a thank you to Kelsey and Robby for making the drive from Charlotte to model for us… :)

The next workshop is in Atlanta, GA on November 20th, 2010. If you are interested, please contact me for information!  Feel free to visit: www.katycookworkshop.com

I’m also including a slideshow that I put together for the workshop. :) It takes 6 secs to load.

Kerri is Married!

It was a very cold day in January.  Kerri was assisting me on a wedding up in Asheville and there was snow everywhere.  I was concerned about how she would get home and she mentioned her boyfriend was picking her up… from almost 3 hours away. I’ve known Kerri for quite sometime and I was surprised and (delighted) to hear this… I was even happier to learn that Kerri felt a unique connection with this guy. She mentioned, “I think this might be big”…. I’ll never forget that.

A few months later, I received the happy news and set myself up to photograph Kerri’s wedding. :)

And, here we are…

Kerri and Micki wanted a simple wedding with family and home all in one. How awesome that Kerri’s family happens to live on some of the most beautiful land in Banner Elk, NC.  We are talking rolling hills, mature trees, pastures that go forever…. I could go on.

Shooting this wedding was a unique pleasure. Truly, I loved every moment and I won’t lie… it was a little bittersweet.  :)

COOL DETAIL. Kerri had Hay Bales set out for seating and covered them in family quilts….

I came around the corner just in time to catch this image…

Every single flower and bouquet…. and I mean EVERY single one was grown on Kerri’s property.  One word: BEAUTIFUL

Before the ceremony, Kerri and I had a quick picture taken… umm. yikes. Beauty and the big mouth beast. :)

one of my favorite moments. Micki writing his vows…

he had to revise the final from over 13 pages… don’t believe me? Here they are… 11 pages of vows to one girl. That is LOVE.

The ceremony was so emotional and moving. Granted, I had a personal connection, but, I was crying through a few shots…

I love this expression from Kerri! She forgot that I follow my couples out of the wedding to photograph that first moment as husband and wife. :)

Such a gorgeous flower girl.

Yup. I had a cool barn right there on the property. Happy me and fun pictures.

Kerri’s grandfather signing the Marriage Certificate.

no words.

Bonfire and S’mores. Perfect.

So. Yes, Kerri. You were right. I need to blog more these days. I promise to keep up. :)

SO HAPPY FOR YOU BOTH!

Katy

Meg and Chris – Raleigh Wedding

I loved everything about this wedding! The dress, the venue, the decor, but, mostly the couple.  I met Meg and Chris at a wedding I shot last year and was so excited when they chose me as their wedding photographer. These two are die hard ECU Pirate fans. Needless to say, the pic below is from their engagement session and there was a little ECU theme. :)

So, it is pretty much a photographer’s dream when you have 3 hours to shoot in downtown Raleigh… (well, at least for me it is!)  The ceremony was held at 2:30 which allowed for plenty of time for photos before the 6pm cocktail hour.  The entire bridal party came with us and we had a blast! After that, it was on to the coolest venue ever, The North Carolina Museum of History.  I had no idea you could hold receptions at this location? It was gorgeous.

Special thanks to the Ryan family for making me feel so at home. I loved every moment.

i love this shot of dad looking at his daughter…

I loved the dress… and how fun to meet Anna with Traditions by Anna. She was there to help with the dress and Meg looked amazing. Ironically, my Raleigh bride from 2 weeks prior, used the same shop!

stunning…

Gorgeous floral by Victorian Seasons

Chris is a big Guinness fan…

The decor was AMAZING!

The BIG ECU crowd!

The cake topper almost fell… kinda hilarious moment…

Meg and Chris – I hope the honeymoon is awesome!

Mandy and Michael – Engagement session

Mandy and Michael drove all the way from Atlanta, Ga for their engagement session. I had a blast with them… we basically went all over McDowell county. :) Mandy is from the area, so it seemed fitting.

I am looking forward to the wedding in October! Such a gorgeous couple…

Adria and Daniel – Raleigh Wedding

Adria and Daniel have been planning this day for a long time…. It is always a pleasure to see the couple through the whole day.

I think my favorite thing about this wedding was all the emotion. :) Not a dry eye and I loved it! Adria looked gorgeous and couldn’t stop smiling the entire night. Daniel had a relaxed cool about him and went with the flow about everything I suggested.

The reception was held at one of my all time favorite venues, The Capital City Club, in downtown Raleigh, NC. I’m never hurting for shot ideas there. :) Special thanks to my hubby who is the best! Also, thanks to Joy with A Joyful Occasion for seeing us through a beautiful day! Enjoy a few sneak peek images….

Megan’s Bridal in Raleigh…

I’m so behind on blogging!  I’ve been traveling so much the past two weeks… I’m half surprised my kids still know me.. :)

Two weeks ago, I had the pleasure of photographing a gorgeous bride, Megan. I’m shooting her wedding in October in Raleigh. She was so sweet and endured the heat with unbelievable grace… and the help of a portable (battery powered) fan. I shared these earlier on facebook… enjoy!
