An Irish Wedding Slideshow
I have so many images from this wedding. It has been a daunting task to edit. I think in part, I loved this trip so much that it’s hard to bring myself to finish.
Fiona and Chris have such a sweet love. I decided to put together a slideshow for them, they have been so patient. There is a black and white theme going on, but if you make it to the end… it will hopefully make sense? I also decided to use the music from the processional during the ceremony. It is so moving. Enjoy!
FYI: PLEASE PRESS PLAY AND THEN PRESS PAUSE. ALLOW THE VIDEO TO LOAD FOR 3 MINUTES AND THEN PRESS PLAY AGAIN. THIS WILL HELP THE SLIDESHOW RUN SMOOTHLY. ![]()
Adria – Raleigh Bridal Session
I’ve been back and forth across this state two times over this week!
Lots of time to reflect on life and jam out to my radio! I had the pleasure of shooting Adria’s bridal portraits at the Rose Garden last friday. The day started a bit late due to her involvement (not her fault) in a car accident. Luckily, she was unharmed and managed to show for the session. We had a blast! After shooting formals at the garden, we set out for the NC State campus for some fun! Adria- you are just gorgeous! Thanks for such a fun time! Here are a few from last week:

Mitzi – CD session
I’m loving shooting CD covers… Mitzi is a Gospel singer and just the sweetest person. I love that she is pursuing her love of Gospel and I look forward to hearing her CD. We had a great time driving around Marion a few weeks ago and talk about the perfect light! I couldn’t have asked for better shooting conditions.
Here are just a few. Check out her amazing eyes!

BABIES!!!
Wow! I definetely had my “baby fix” this past week.
I went to visit my sister in Wilmington, NC and we put together a portrait party for her friends… There wasn’t a kid over the age of two… that is a full day! We had smiles, tears, spit-up, and lots of laughter!
I enjoyed the entire group and I’m so glad I had a chance to photograph my newphew, Bennett. He is the cutie below with the faux-hawk. Thanks to those that could make it! I had a great time meeting you all!

Mother’s Day Special!!! :)
Okay, so it’s not too late! I know many of you out there have put off Mother’s day…. I’m speaking mostly to the hubby’s out there. Well, you’re in luck. Give your wife the gift of timeless portraiture. She will love it!
I’m offering a special on my session fee for the month of June only. 50% off. I would also encourage a purchase of a high quality canvas for Mother’s day…
These are gorgeous and very popular with my clients.
In fact, I’m posting a few client orders that were shipped in to the studio today… they look so tiny in these pics, but the actual dimensions are 24×30. Talk about striking. Wish I could keep them for myself….

left the protective plastic on… but, you get the idea.

excuse the prop mess in the background… anybody want a shaggy white rug? I will give it away free… never use it.

Ireland – Part II
IRELAND. Loved every moment!
It’s hard for me to put in to words how thankful I am. How amazing these past couple of years have been for my business! I’ve never been so excited to shoot a wedding… it was well worth it.
The day started early and ended late and every minute was worth documenting. Fiona and Chris are a beautiful couple and I wish them many blessings in their marriage. I’m just going to start with the images before I get all emotional, but I did want to say a special thank you to Chris…. Marc and I were honored that you included us in your toast of thanks. I cried. Thank you.

Getting ready at the salon, Joe looks on Fiona…

This is Bethany. I shot her wedding last year and Fiona was a bridesmaid.

A huge thank you to both the Baker and Limpach families! We had a wonderful time!
Ireland – Part 1 (The Engagement)
There are so many things I could say about this wonderful country! I loved my time there and hope to go back soon! My husband came with me and we haven’t been away from the kiddos that long…. ever. We had a great time!
It’s funny, Ireland lived up to all my hopes… you know, you envision the amazing green pastures and quaint villages? It’s all true!
We flew in to Dublin in the south and made our way by bus to Belfast in the north. I can’t say enough about the warmth we received from the locals. Everyone went out of their way to make us feel at home.
I’ve had many ask me how I booked a wedding in Ireland? Well, it was a bit of luck and fate, I think?
Fiona is from Belfast and was living in the states a few years ago when she met Chris. For the two, it was a quick courtship before she had to return to Ireland. However, that was all it took for them to realize they wanted to pursue a long-distance relationship. So, after many trips across “the pond” they were engaged.
Now, how do I fit in to this? Well, I didn’t even know the full story until recently. Fiona and Chris came to a wedding I shot in 2008 at Montreat College. Chris was friends with the bride. Then… ironically, I shot Chris’s sister’s wedding that next year. (insert Fiona) She was one of Bethany’s bridesmaids and we hit it off instantly. I can’t remember our exact conversation, but, it ended with my desire to shoot her upcoming wedding in Ireland and her hope to have me.
And there you have it!
So, now I’m sitting here going through thousands of images. I have a lot of work ahead of me…
Here are a few of our engagement session we shot two days prior to the wedding… I’m also including some funny (non-professional) video my hubby took during our time with Fiona and Chris. It was windy and cold… enough said.
More from the wedding day soon! Best!

shot of Belfast Castle… reminded me of a small Biltmore.

this is a shot of the City Capital at night… walking to the taxi from dinner.

I’m off to Ireland…
I couldn’t resist editing just one picture from my newborn session today… truthfully, I should be packing right now… like this very minute… *sigh* I just can’t help it. I love little babies.
More of Mr. Eli when I return… promise.
I’ll be in Ireland until the 11th and back in the office on the 12th… if jet lag allows. If you need to reach me, please do so through e-mail: katy_cook@charter.net ( I’ll have my calendar with me for bookings )
Best! Katy

Morgan and Bradley – Raleigh Wedding
Beautiful day + Awesome venue + Hilarious couple = Fantastic wedding!
I know I’ve said it before, but, it still rings true… I have the best job! Morgan and Bradley are one of those ridiculously easy couples to photograph. After the ceremony, we drove around downtown Raleigh in a trolley and we had over 45 minutes to get some amazing shots! These two are not afraid to laugh and have fun!
I need to give some special thanks to a few people… Sally with An Elegant Affair… you made this day seem effortless and smooth…
Toni and Chris with Barton Creek Weddings… I hope to work with you both again!!! I loved working with you both!
Capital City Club (Kristen)
As always, love this venue! Kristen, I have magazines in the mail for you.
MY Hubby! You are the greatest! *smooch* Okay, so on with the images…. I love this first one… This bracelet is very special to the women in Morgan’s family.

I did not realize I was being photographed… thanks Marc.

Morgan decided to catch me on camera with her FLIP camera…

We had an amazing sunset that provided the best light for pictures!!!

check out that sunset behind the cake! Gorgeous!

Morgan has the funniest expressions…

some SERIOUS dancing going on!!

On a personal note: My niece was born on the Friday before this wedding. Morgan Grace weighed in at a healthy 10 pounds 10 ounces! Marc and I went by the hospital on our way home Sunday and met this little beauty… so thankful for all of my family.

Bringing home baby…
A personal session for a dear friend… Jerri.
Evy is absolutely beautiful! I am so glad I met her while she is still so tiny! All my best to the family and their newest member!
