Fernbrook Inn Wedding – Alison and Brian

What an amazing weekend. I flew to New Jersey on Friday night without knowing one single person and I flew out on Sunday with new friendships and feeling like part of the family.

Alison and Brian met less than 2 years ago and it was an instantaneous connection. When it’s right – it’s right. :) After the big question was popped, Alison dove in to planning the wedding. She contacted me on the advice of her bridesmaid, (shout out to Caroline!!!) who had attended a wedding I photographed last year … Alison was set on hiring me, but there was just one question….Would I come to New Jersey? ABSOLUTELY. I love to travel. :) I’m always amazed by how these connections come together… I can never predict how I will book a wedding, but it is usually word of mouth, and I’m soooo appreciative of those that refer me.

Fernbrook Inn was the perfect setting for a wedding! I had so many locations to work with and a couple willing to go for my crazy ideas. :) I was in photographer heaven. Alison made sure no detail was overlooked.. from mason jars filled with yummy refreshments to the custom corn-hole boards with painted silhouette’s of the couple’s profiles.  – Oh- and the Rolls Royce that was originally owned by Pete Rose – seriously cool…

Truly, the best part of the day was the recessional after Alison and Brian were introduced as husband and wife. Alison, overcome with emotion, clutched Brian’s tie and cried on his shoulder. It was so moving.

Many thanks to the following vendors!!!

NC Maternity Session – Amy and Nate

I have said it before and I will say it again… I love my brides having babies! It is always a thrill to be part of the wedding day – but, amazing to see the life coming from that union. Corny? perhaps, but, i don’t care. I love babies.

I met Amy and Nate when they came to Marion for their engagement session in 2008. http://katycookphotography.com/blog/2008/11/11/amy-and-nate-engagement/ and now here we are with baby M on the way… LOVE IT!

Raleigh Wedding Photographer – Theresa and Dragos

This was the last wedding I shot before our baby boy was born… I was so happy to have my hubby working with me on this one. :) It was also the second wedding I had shot for this family in 1 year. Theresa and Dragos are one of those couple’s you could just squeeze. Such young love!

Venue: St. Michaels / Cary, NC and The State Club / NC State Campus

Asheville Child Photographer – Ella and the Piano…

I can never get enough of sweet Ella. We’ve had our moments of tears during sessions – but, I think I have grown on her a bit… :) I love my baby planners.

Wilmington Child Photographer – Portrait Party Fun

Playing catch up on some blogging. :) Right before the baby was born, my sister hosted a portrait party in Wilmington, NC. We had a blast and these kids were so adorable. I love the weather in Wilmington…. I think they only have a few months of real cold…nothing like the 70′s in October.

Senior Portrait Photographer – Rachel

Okay, so I’ve dabbled in the past with Senior Portrait Photography… and I’ve always enjoyed it and wanted to pursue it further…. but, I’m a busy gal and with weddings, etc… it kinda fell to the side. I’m happy to report I will be back in to the Senior Market for 2012! With an enthusiastic vengeance. :) Many more examples to come, but, let’s start with beautiful Rachel. She was a joy to work with and a genuine great girl! I wish her much luck in the future…

A Baby Hiatus… :)

He has captured my heart. This little baby, this gift from God.  As many of you know, Marc and I have been on an adoption journey.  We now have our “complete” family and I couldn’t be happier…or more busy. :) I’m starting to come out of the baby fog and get back in to a routine and I have a lot to catch up on… in the next few weeks I will be finishing up some editing, but, more importantly, cuddling with the sweetest boys a mother could ask for.

I am so thankful. Thankful for this blessing. Thankful for patient clients (i love you guys). Thankful for a husband who pulls 100% for me….

I wanted to share a few images – (with the entire story of our adoption to come soon). Meet our sweet Evan. Born Oct. 26th – 6 pounds 3 ounces.

one minute old. :)

sweet brothers.

sweet love.

Day in the Life Session – The McCarthy Family

Once again, I find myself trying to catch up on my blog. :) I have a feeling I’m going to post like crazy today – so watch out! lol.  Anyway, a few months ago, I had the pleasure of traveling to Savannah, Georgia for a very unique family session.   I spent the entire day with this family and we had a blast!

~ Day in the Life sessions are some of my favorite sessions to photograph.  I’m there all day…lunch, nap, play time, etc… and I document everything. :)

Asheville Newborn Photographer – Eme

I was so happy to meet little Eme. She is the new daughter to one of my former brides that I loved working with… I knew we would have a great session. :) Isn’t she precious?
