Asheville Maternity and Newborn Photographer – Here comes Drew…
There is something so special about pregnancy. I think it’s one of the most beautiful moments in a mother’s life. I am always honored to document this time for her… and of course, it means a newborn session is around the corner and I just love that! This session in particular was amazing and I feel like it was just yesterday when I photographed Brady’s newborn session and now here we are again!
Misty, Brandon, and Brady – congratulations! I can’t wait to meet baby Drew. Thanks for driving in from Tennessee.

I love Brady’s curls!!

Charlotte Newborn Photographer – Emalyn
I had a great session with little Emalyn yesterday. She was the perfect newborn and I couldn’t get over all that hair! So sweet. I’m just loving all these babies lately… 2 more newborn sessions coming up soon.
Kali and Ralph- thanks for having me in your home. You have a beautiful little girl. Enjoy the sneak peek…

I walked in to the house and fell in love with this couch.

I had a chance to play with my new macro lens… look at those toes!

Asheville, NC Newborn Photography – Sweet Baby Cole
So happy I finally had the chance to meet and photograph baby Cole. He had a bit of a rough start and a short stay in the NICU, but, he is now home and in perfect health! And gosh darn if he isn’t the cutest little guy!
I can’t get over his chubby cheeks (which he apparently gets from daddy) and easy-going personality (which I’m sure he gets from his mommy) … I just love holding all these beautiful newborns. Many more newborn sessions to come…so stay posted. Enjoy.

Thought I would share this setup shot below…. straight out of camera / no editing

and the RESULT of our setup

of course… we had to get in the 1st baby of the family.

Katy Cook Workshop – March 19th, 2011
Well, it’s that time again. I have loved this time off and I feel rejuvenated. My slow season is Jan-Feb… and it’s awesome! A chance to wind down from the Christmas madness and really just enjoy my family. It’s kind of like a Photographer’s summer break, only it’s cold and involves lots of hot coccoa and snuggles on the couch with my boys.
It feels great to get up and go again and let me tell you… 2011 is looking like an awesome year!
So here it is…. kicking off the year with another workshop. After several e-mails/requests I’ve decided to hold another Atlanta date on March 19th. This one day workshop will be held at one of my client’s homes. I usually like to keep this to 10 people — The cost is: $300.
If you are interested, please e-mail me at: katy@katycookphotography.com Also, I just had to share this below…. My image of Bennett won 1st in the babies category for the National Association of Professional Child Photographers… pretty cool! Here’s to a great year!

Happy New Year – Best Image
2010… what a year! I photographed weddings in Ireland and Jamaica – I opened a new studio – Moved in to a new house – Started offering workshops – and so much more! I have been truly blessed.
I’m really excited about 2011 and all the possibilities both personally and professionally.
After a poll on Facebook, I am happy to post my “Image of the Year”…. I adore it. My sweet nephew, Bennett. His daddy is quite the surfer and this shot was a must have….totally worth getting to the beach at 6:30 AM

The Workshop
So, I just finished up my first official “workshop” over the past weekend and I had a blast! What a fun and very full Saturday. I wanted to post a few images from our shoot portion. Our models were awesome! Little Sarayah won everyone over and she was so easy to photograph. I managed to get a few of her and I’m posting them below… Special thanks to Chris Garner with TPS Photography (thanks for the help!) and a thank you to Kelsey and Robby for making the drive from Charlotte to model for us…
The next workshop is in Atlanta, GA on November 20th, 2010. If you are interested, please contact me for information! Feel free to visit: www.katycookworkshop.com
I’m also including a slideshow that I put together for the workshop.
It takes 6 secs to load.

Beautiful Newborn session and I’m back from vacation…
I’m back from vacation and feel amazingly refreshed! It’s funny how 3 days off from working/computer/etc… can make you feel so good!
Marc and I took the boys to the beach twice, an amusement park, and the historic Battleship NC… in just two days. We had a blast! Not to mention, spending time with my sis and her hubby and of course, my sweet nephew Bennett.
It’s funny how you leave work and it never leaves you… I had promised myself, no cell, no computer, and well… no brides.
Just for the weekend! I was focused on my family. So, imagine how hilarious it was when I’m leaving the beach on Saturday and literally run in to one brides from May sunbathing with her new hubby and family. If you read my blog, they are my ECU couple from May with the amazing purple wedding.
It was great to see them and how crazy they were behind us the whole time…
Okay, so back to what I love. I do love my job so much! Especially, when I have the chance to photograph little newborns… Last week, I took newborn photos of MR. Declan. He was an angel. Here are just a few…

This sweet baby was a referral client from my friend, Jerri, so here are a few from our visit… I can’t wait to photograph Evy when she is sitting up… all she does is smile.

Newborn Ella
I love photographing newborns! So sweet and innocent…
I also adore my clients. Katie contacted me after the birth to photograph miss Ella and I just had to fit her in the schedule. I’ve worked with her in the past and look forward to each session. How much fun was it to see big sister, Caroline, as well! Here are a few from our session last week. I love the little rolls!

Love this! On the left: Ella and on the right: Caroline two years ago…
