Asheville Child Photographer – Ella is 6 months

Well… more like 8 months. :) We ended up doing a re-shoot for this little one. Not something I do very often, however, teething sometimes takes over a session. Poor Ella wasn’t feeling well and I knew it would be better to continue our session another day.  She came in to the studio last week a lot happier!

Asheville, NC Newborn Photography – Here comes Carson in the baby carriage.

Little Carson was one of those easy newborns that I love… within a few minutes he was relaxed and ready for his photo shoot in the studio.  However, his sister, Caroline, wasn’t feeling it that much.  I respect a 2 year old who tells you like it is… and she did. In fact, her favorite phrase was “No Way” to everything I asked of her. :) I kinda loved it.

Amanda and family, thanks for driving in from Winston-Salem. I can’t get over these beautiful kids!  It was truly a pleasure.

Happy Girl!

and because I always love posting the setup shots… :) He was so content.

Charlotte Newborn Photographer – Emalyn

I had a great session with little Emalyn yesterday. She was the perfect newborn and I couldn’t get over all that hair!  So sweet. I’m just loving all these babies lately… 2 more newborn sessions coming up soon.

Kali and Ralph- thanks for having me in your home.  You have a beautiful little girl. Enjoy the sneak peek…

I walked in to the house and fell in love with this couch. :)

I had a chance to play with my new macro lens… look at those toes! :)

Asheville Child Photographer – Nora turns 1

This is actually the first time I’ve met sweet lil’ Nora. She is your typical 1 year old… all over the place. We started her session in the studio and then moved outside (taking advantage of this amazing weather) and had fun with apples.  She was happy to play along, but, all good things must come to an end. You’ll see what I mean in the last shot. :) Happy Birthday to Nora!

I gave Nora some apples to play with…and she promptly started to eat them. :)

and then… the session was over. :) I don’t know why, but, I adore this one.

Asheville, NC Newborn Photography – Sweet Baby Cole

So happy I finally had the chance to meet and photograph baby Cole.  He had a bit of a rough start and a short stay in the NICU, but, he is now home and in perfect health! And gosh darn if he isn’t the cutest little guy! :)   I can’t get over his chubby cheeks (which he apparently gets from daddy) and easy-going personality (which I’m sure he gets from his mommy)  … I just love holding all these beautiful newborns.  Many more newborn sessions to come…so stay posted. Enjoy.

Thought I would share this setup shot below…. straight out of camera / no editing

and the RESULT of our setup :)

of course… we had to get in the 1st baby of the family.

Katy Cook Workshop – March 19th, 2011

Well, it’s that time again.  I have loved this time off and I feel rejuvenated. My slow season is Jan-Feb… and it’s awesome! A chance to wind down from the Christmas madness and really just enjoy my family. It’s kind of like a Photographer’s summer break, only it’s cold and involves lots of hot coccoa and snuggles on the couch with my boys. :)   It feels great to get up and go again and let me tell you… 2011 is looking like an awesome year!

So here it is…. kicking off the year with another workshop. After several e-mails/requests I’ve decided to hold another Atlanta date on March 19th.  This one day workshop will be held at one of my client’s  homes.  I usually like to keep this to 10 people — The cost is: $300.

If you are interested, please e-mail me at: katy@katycookphotography.com  Also, I just had to share this below…. My image of Bennett won 1st in the babies category for the National Association of Professional Child Photographers… pretty cool! Here’s to a great year!

Happy New Year – Best Image

2010… what a year!  I photographed weddings in Ireland and Jamaica – I opened a new studio – Moved in to a new house – Started offering workshops – and so much more! I have been truly blessed.

I’m really excited about 2011 and all the possibilities both personally and professionally. :)

After a poll on Facebook, I am happy to post my “Image of the Year”…. I adore it.  My sweet nephew, Bennett.  His daddy is quite the surfer and this shot was a must have….totally worth getting to the beach at 6:30 AM

Winston-Salem Baby Photographer – LOVE THIS BABY!

I love this little one and her adorable brother! Caroline is your basic photographer’s dream baby and how lucky for her mother…. who is a photographer. ;)   I had such a blast in the studio with these two…. quite the workout, but, loved every minute.  Caroline’s mommy recently took my one-on-one mentoring course and she ended up shooting at this session too! That is where the out-take shot comes in below…. Enjoy!

here is a shot that Emily took and the result is above….

Asheville Children’s Photographer – more mini-sessions… :)

Just playing catch up on my blogging! I’ve been posting a lot of sneak peeks on facebook and have neglected this poor blog, yet again. :) Luckily, I have so much to write in the near future, so stay tuned. The mini-sessions for my new studio are now over and what a huge success! Thanks to everyone that participated. Here are a few more from the past two weeks. Enjoy!

Photography Workshop – Atlanta, Ga

I’m just now blogging about this? The days are flying by this holiday season!

The Atlanta workshop was so much fun! I had a great time getting to know those who attended. Our models were amazing! I had a hard time instructing, because, I wanted to photograph these little beauties! lol. That said, I did manage a few images below… and, check out the out-take images… too funny!

I’m still working the details out for the next workshop… sometime in the spring. :)

whoa! i’m flexible. :)
