Jennifer’s neighbor had me take some pictures of her kids. OMG. These eyes are to die for… :)

such a beautie!

Katy,
It certainly was a pleasure meeting you. Brent and I viewed your blog this
morning over coffee. We oohed and awed over our kiddos’ pictures. It is
amazing how you completely captured them and made it a fun experience. Thank
you so much for taking the time for us and we look forward to working with you
in the future. BTW, I’m passing on your site to all my friends and family. Kim

I’m having a great time in Chicago! It’s super cold out, but what awesome light for pictures. There is snow everywhere and it just bounces the light for me like a giant reflector! So of course, I’ve been taking pics like crazy… I’ve had soooo much fun!
First up, my BF’s kiddos… the Johnson boys….

Um… I love seeing my work up in her house… love me some canvas.

playing dress up with the boys!

the view outside…. lots of snow

Meg cannot get enough of me!

I’m leaving for Chicago today and I’ll be back on Sunday. I get to spend some time with my friend, Jennifer and takes some kiddos pictures! Before I leave, I wanted to leave this slideshow for Candy. ;) It was great seeing you last week! I love Mr. Griffin!

This was my last wedding of 2008 and I was in heaven with this couple. So relaxed and so in love! I’m pleased to share this slideshow of highlight images from their beautiful day. I should point out that they chose to see each other in a private meeting before the ceremony and I was there to document. Homewood Estate doesn’t have alot of room for privacy, so my husband and I staged their meeting at the elevator. So romantic! Enjoy. PS - please excuse the web quality…the images are much sharper in person…

OH KATY!

They are gorgeous! I can’t tell you how pumped I am to see the final proofs….you’ve done a wonderful job keeping me sated by posting on your blog!!! ;)

Your photos are beautiful.

I can’t tell you enough how wonderful it was to have you and Marc with us on New Years!

All the best!
Nik

Katy, What a beautiful piece of artwork! Nicely done.

Thank you.

So I did it once again! Drove down to Atlanta and back in one day for an awesome session with this cutie pie! Griffin was all smiles the entire session and those big blue eyes were a dream! Candy, it’s always a blast hanging out with you! Thanks for having me!

Loving on his dog! :)

This was too cute… he offered me his favorite toys! :)

He wasn’t really feeling the hat thing. :)

Lots of sweet newborns lately! I love it! I especially love shooting a former client. I had the pleasure of shooting Tina when she was pregnant with Ella and now she’s the mother of two! I love these images from yesterday’s session.

This shot was for daddy!

Love these of Big Sister, Ella.

I’ve been meaning to post this for a while… it’s amazing how busy I’ve been this January. This is typically my slowest time of the year, but I’ve been shooting and working on my new website. There is always something. :)

One of my recent weddings was recently published in Carolina Bride, but what’s even better is that my image was chosen for the cover! How cool is that? This awesome couple were soooo much fun to shoot. We walked around downtown Raleigh getting so many great images. Be sure to pick up a copy! :)

I loved this! The magazine chose to run the engagement shot I had done of the couple. Notice the similarity? :) I loved that we got to do that! :) I believe the Nicole was planning on hanging both shots next to each other in her home. :)

This was my favorite part in the article!

Nicole felt on of the most important aspects of her wedding to Ryal was the photos. That’s why, after interviewing several photographers, she chose Katy Cook of Marion. “I wanted to fill my house with photographs,” Nicole explains.  “She understood my vision.”

Like every other part of their wedding, Nicole and Ryal wanted their photos to be true representations of them. In Katy, they found a photographer who understood that. “She got it. Her pictures capture a couple’s personalities.”

On the day of their wedding, Katy was there with them every step of the way: from capturing Nicole as she slipped into her Vera Wang gown (which she affectionately referred to as “Vera” for the duration of the day), to hoping on the Raleigh Trolley with the wedding party after the ceremony. Katy caught them mid-toast at Irish pub Tir Na Nog on Blount Street, and hailed a horse-drawn carriage for the newlyweds in a  downtown park. “So little of it was staged,” Ryal says. “It was just completely natural and easy.”

I had so much fun on Friday night! Several of the Nine took me out for my birthday! We went to my favorite place… Carrabba’s.  Yum.  We did this after a big day of setting up for the Asheville Bridal show. I didn’t have a booth, but was their to help my friends. That big meal was much needed!  Anyway, here are a few funny pics of us. ;0

Audrey’s daughter, Jenna, having a little fun. ;)

Group shot! Jenna, Audrey, Corey, me, Dana, Regina, and Honour.

I had the pleasure of documenting this fantastic wedding for Nikki and Allen. The whole family flew in from New Jersey to celebrate! The ceremony was at Homewood Estate and the reception at Coleman Place. I had a blast! My husband was my second shooter and it was nice to sneak in a kiss at midnight. :) These two are in India for their honeymoon….what an experience! Hope you enjoy an image heavy post! ;) Thanks also to Tara Jordan who pulled off a wonderful wedding!

I loved walking in to the bridal suite and seeing the dress hanging from the rafters.

The bride’s shoes… meant for dancing later. :)

Now this is my idea of a family portrait! :)

Coleman Place had so many fantastic details!

The guestbook was awesome! Everyone took Polaroid’s and left sweet messages!

Okay, I seriously wish you could have seen them dancing! AMAZING!

The lovely Tara Jordan helping the couple out. :)

Time for the bubbly!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

It’s been a wonderful couple of weeks off! I’ve snuggled with my boys, cleaned up lots of toys and wrapping paper, and just enjoyed laying around.  That said, I did pick up the camera some. :) I was thrilled to shoot another newborn on January 2nd and her sweet older sister! Madison came in to this world at 9 pounds! A big surprise for mom! :) We struggled at first to get her to sleep, but she finally caved! Thanks for having me to your home! I could just eat Reagan up! She is so full of personality!
