I’ve been meaning to post this for a while… it’s amazing how busy I’ve been this January. This is typically my slowest time of the year, but I’ve been shooting and working on my new website. There is always something.
One of my recent weddings was recently published in Carolina Bride, but what’s even better is that my image was chosen for the cover! How cool is that? This awesome couple were soooo much fun to shoot. We walked around downtown Raleigh getting so many great images. Be sure to pick up a copy!

I loved this! The magazine chose to run the engagement shot I had done of the couple. Notice the similarity?
I loved that we got to do that!
I believe the Nicole was planning on hanging both shots next to each other in her home.

This was my favorite part in the article!
Nicole felt on of the most important aspects of her wedding to Ryal was the photos. That’s why, after interviewing several photographers, she chose Katy Cook of Marion. “I wanted to fill my house with photographs,” Nicole explains. “She understood my vision.”
Like every other part of their wedding, Nicole and Ryal wanted their photos to be true representations of them. In Katy, they found a photographer who understood that. “She got it. Her pictures capture a couple’s personalities.”
On the day of their wedding, Katy was there with them every step of the way: from capturing Nicole as she slipped into her Vera Wang gown (which she affectionately referred to as “Vera” for the duration of the day), to hoping on the Raleigh Trolley with the wedding party after the ceremony. Katy caught them mid-toast at Irish pub Tir Na Nog on Blount Street, and hailed a horse-drawn carriage for the newlyweds in a downtown park. “So little of it was staged,” Ryal says. “It was just completely natural and easy.”
